Muay Thai
A Thai combat sport, also known as "Thai Boxing," that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.
History

Muay Thai has roots in ancient Siamese warfare systems like Muay Boran. It evolved into a popular ring sport in the early 20th century with the adoption of Western boxing gloves and rules. It is Thailand's national sport and is renowned for its powerful strikes and brutal effectiveness.

Core Philosophy

Emphasizes respect for teachers (Kru), tradition, courage, and sportsmanship. Training instills discipline, mental toughness, and a deep understanding of the body as a weapon. The "Wai Kru Ram Muay" pre-fight ritual is a significant cultural aspect, paying homage to teachers and displaying skill.
